The Golden Globe Awards are back! January 7th on CBS. The Movie Barbie is leading the nomination with 9 awards. Congrats to Philly Natives Coleman Domingo and Temple Grad Da’vine Joy Randolph who were Nominated for their roles in Rustin and The Holdover is best supporting Roles. Fantasia nominated for Best Actress in The Color Purple. Danielle Brooks nominated Best Supporting Actress The Color Purple. Quinta Brunson for best TV Show Abbott Elementary and Best Actress in a TV Show, and Jeffrey Wright for American Fiction. Two new categories will be introduced that night Blockbuste movie and Stand Up comedy specials. Chris Rock, Trevor Noah and Wanda Sykes all Nominated.

We had a lot of deaths this week Including TV Legend Norman Lear. The TV Icon passed away at the age of 101. He created the legendary shows ‘All in the Family’ ‘The Jeffersons, ‘Good Times’ ‘Sanford and Son ‘Maude’ ‘Facts of life and One Day at a Time to name a few. We also lost The Lead Singer of the 80’s group Dynasty Nidra Beard. They were known for the hits Here I am and I’ve just begun to Love you. She died after a battle with Cancer, she was 71.

Oscar Winner Forest Whitaker and his family is mourning the loss of his ex-wife Keisha Whitaker. Whitaker had been battling intestinal issues after suffering from Anorexia. Keisha Whitaker and Forest Whitaker had been married for twenty years and they had two daughters. When they married they each had children they brought into the marriage. The Whitakers divorced in 2018. Famed Soap Opera Actress Ellen Holly also died. Holly made History as the first Black Actress to star in a soap opera. She starred in the Soap Opera One Live to Live as Carla Gray. Holly was 92 Years ago. We also remember Oscar Nominated Actor Ryan O’Neal best known for the Soap Opera Peyton Place and the movies ‘Love Story and the movie ‘Paper Moon where his daughter Tatum O’neal won an Academy Award. She made history as the Youngest Person to win an Oscar.

Taraji P Henson, Danielle Brooks, Philly Native Coleman Domingo playing the role of Mister made famous by Actor Danny Glover. Also, in the cast Corey Hawkins Singers H.E.R. and Halle Bailey. The movie is being produced by Oprah Winfrey, Quincy Jones, and Steven Spielberg and is being directed by Blitz Bazawule. The movie is coming out Christmas Day. Grammy Winner Jon Batiste has also recently joined the cast. The Soundtrack comes out Dec.15th featuring the music of Alicia Keys, Mary J Blige, Black Thought, Megan Thee Stallion, H.E.R. Usher, coco Jones, Keisha Cole and Mary Mary.

Eddie Murphy plays a man obsessed with Christmas in the Prime movie ‘Candy Cane Lane” Murphy stars along with Tracee Ellis Ross as a man who makes a deal with a ghost to have the best holiday displays and the ghosts take over. Candy Cane Lane is streaming on Prime.

Rapper/Actor Ludacris has a new Disney Plus Holiday Movie ‘Dashing thru the Snow.

In the movie Ludacris plays a man getting help getting in the spirit with Lil Rel Howery who plays story. Tim Story (Barbershop) is directing. The movie is being Produced by Will Packer.

Happy Anniversary to Thriller. Michael Jacksons Groundbreaking album turn 40 this year. Music Historian Nelson George ha produced a documentary that goes behind the scenes of the 1982 album. He was a close advisor to Dr. King but his role in the civil rights movement was pushed aside because he was an openly Gay Man.
