The Roots Picnic is this weekend Performers Include Jay-Z, Erykah Badu, Rapper T.I. Singer Brandi, Adam Blackstone, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jermaine Dupri, Ledisi, Chante Moore, Yolanda Adams. Everything is taking place at the Belmont Plateau.

Sunday on Netflix it’s a celebration for Eddie Murphy by the American Film Institute. The celebration will air on May 31st. Special Guests include Chris Rock, Mike Myers, Kevin Hart, Spike Le, Stevie Woner, Jennifer Hudson and more. His career has redefined comedy and left a lasting impact on audiences around the world. The 51st AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Eddie Murphy premieres May 31st.

We Remember Rapper Rob Base was best known for the 1988 Hit It takes Two and Joy and Pain. Base along with his Partner DJ E-Z Rock gave us party classics. Base had just turned 59 and he died after a battle with Lung Cancer. His Partner DJ E-Z Rock died in 2014 after a battle with Diabetes.

We remember one of the legends of Jazz Sonny Rollins. The jazz Giant had a 60 year plus career with his Saxophone. Rollins was 95 years old.

We also remember Race Car Driver Kyle Bush. The Race Car Driver had a spectacular career, a 2 time NASCAR winner died last week at the age of 41 from complications of Pnemonia that turned into Sepsis.

The Lineup is set for The July 4th One Philly Unity Concert. Everything is happening on the Ben Franklin Parkway with Christina Aguilera, J ill Scott, The Roots with special guests Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kathy Sledge, State Property, Freeway,Beenie Siegel, Young Gunz, Peedi Crack, Seal, Infinity Song.
