The Strawberry Letter: He Said If I Write Yall Its Over

Dear Steve and Shirley,

I've been with my fiancé for six years, and we've been engaged for three of those years. I have gotten in a fistfight with his mother twice, and I'm not proud of that, but if you touch me, you're going to get touched back. His mama is always in our affairs, and she gives my man bad advice. We used to stay with her because she was sick, but she told me to get out one day after I got into an argument with her son.

I am bossy and I nag a little, but her son fell in love with me, so she needs to let us figure things out. The final straw for me was when she invited my man's ex-lover to our wedding. I thought this woman was a high school friend of my husband, so I didn't mind inviting her to the wedding. But the other day, my man was FaceTiming his mom, and his mom asked if I knew that he used to sleep with Faith. I hung up on his mom because now I'm out here looking like boo-boo the fool.

I texted Faith and asked her if she and Jerome had relations, and she texted back that they did but it was years ago, and now they're just friends. I can respect that, so I'm not mad at her. But now I can't help but wonder if he's had sex with any more of his female friends. I don't think a man and woman can be friends, just like you all have said on the show.

I blocked my man's mother from everything, so she has zero access to me. My fiancé said if I can't work out all of my issues with his mom and accept his friendships with women, then we shouldn't get married. He knows how much I love the Strawberry Letter, and he said if I write y'all, it's over. It seems like his mind is made up. Should I cut ties and move on?
