The various allegations Sean "Diddy" Combs is currently facing stem from incidents that allegedly occurred over the past three decades. Although the allegations recently came to light in lawsuits from eight alleged victims, the disgraced mogul's alleged pattern of abuse reportedly dates way back to his college years.
On Tuesday, May 28, Rolling Stone published its six-month investigation into the allegations against the Bad Boy founder, and dug up some new ones. The outlet contacted over 300 people within Diddy's orbit, but only 50 of his former friends, employees, artists and industry insiders actually opened up about several instances of angry outbursts, violent attacks and sexual harassment.
The people who spoke to Rolling Stone described Combs as "a menacing figure who desperately wants to be accepted and admired." One source claimed his abusive mannerisms were obvious when he was a student at Howard University in the late 1980s. The source recalled an instance when he allegedly belligerently yelled at his girlfriend and assaulted her with a belt outside of the school’s Harriet Tubman Quadrangle dorm.
“Puff is out here acting crazy. He’s beating her,” the source said. “He screamed and hollered and acted a stone fool until she came downstairs."
Following his college career, Diddy carried his hot temper with him as his career in the music industry flourished. In one instance, several employees had to hold Diddy back after he allegedly attacked a woman at Bad Boy's offices. He also made sexual advances towards female employees and acquaintances. One woman even claimed he tried to get her boss to solicit her for sex.
Diddy's exes were also mentioned in the piece. There's an anecdote about what happened after he split from Jennifer Lopez. Apparently, Diddy forced Bad Boy staffers to show up to MTV's "TRL" studios with signs that pleaded J. Lo to get back with him. Another story alleged Diddy beat up a record executive for dating his ex Kim Porter. He's also accused of not letting Porter move on from their toxic relationship.
The massive investigation into Diddy arrived a day before reports about a grand jury convening ahead of a potential criminal indictment against the embattled artist. Federal investigators have reportedly spoken with accusers and told them they may be called on to testify in front of a grand jury. No charges have been filed yet, but the feds are adamant about gathering more evidence to ensure the looming indictment is "bulletproof."
