Bonnie Pointer of The Pointer Sisters passed away on Monday (June 8), as per TMZ. She was 69.
Pointer's sibling, Anita, shared the unfortunate news with the celebrity gossip outlet, saying, "It is with great sadness that I have to announce to the fans of The Pointer Sisters that my sister, Bonnie died this morning. Our family is devastated, on behalf of my siblings and I and the entire Pointer family, we ask for your prayers at this time."
As part of the quartet in the '70s, Pointer made a name for herself as one of the lead vocalists of the collective. During her time in the group, she won a Grammy for Best Vocal by a Duo or Group in the country category for their smash, "Fairytale." Eventually, she left the group to pursue solo ventures and is likely known for her disco cover of "Heaven Must Have Sent You."
"Bonnie was my best friend and we talked every day, we never had a fight in our life, I already miss her and I will see her again one day," Anita continues in the statement.
