Could Chris Brown’s music be a problem for black women? Brown has a lyric in Need A Stack, one his songs, that says I Only F*** With Black *** With Good Hair. Is this for attention? Does he mean it? Chris, ain’t your mom black? It’s also time to think about things like what constitutes good hair? And, are you happy in your blackness? Well Chris has responded. He’s mad and says we’re Weird A** Sensitive People. Hmmmmm! Time for you to review some things Chris.
Is Rapper/Actor Bow Wow an abuser? Now I was into Lil’ Bow Wow when he was a younger rapper. I remember back in his teenage days and him dating Ciara. But, now a grown up Bow Wow, is being called out by ex-girlfriend Erica Mena from Love & Hip Hop. According to Mena, he abused Ciara and broke her finger. Ciara, who is a mom of two and now married to NFL Superstar Russell Wilson, has never confirmed this and is not talking. Bow Wow is keeping quiet too. This is not a good look.
Can you believe what the highest grossing film in Will Smith’s career is? The Philly native, who is also a Grammy winner and an Oscar nominee, took to social media to thank his fans. So which movie put Smith over the top? Is it Independence Day, Bad Boys, I Robot, Hitch, Men In Black? It’s none of those. The movie that put Smith over is his current hit Aladdin. The live action reboot of the 1992 animated film, that previously had a voice cast led by the late Oscar winning Comedian/Actor Robin Williams, has grossed over $879 million and counting at the box office. The 2019 Aladdin film was directed and co-written by Guy Ritchie, the ex-husband of Madonna. By the way, Madonna just scored her ninth number one album this year herself with the release of Madame X. Congratulations to Will Smith, so what’s up next for the former Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air?Smith returns to the action/sci-fi genre in Gemini Man. He’ll play a dual role as an assassin looking to get out of the business until he becomes the target of a younger clone of himself. Gemini Man hits theaters October 11th.
Did Sheri Shepherd just not listen when it came to her marriage to Lamar Sally? First, the comedienne/actress says friends tried to tell her, Steve Harvey, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, but Shepherd was not hearing it. Shepherd, a former co-host on the ABC daytime talker The View, says her fellow co-hosts had lives and marriages and she wanted that for herself. The marriage to Sally ended in disaster. After initially agreeing to have a child by surrogate, Shepherd wanted to end the marriage after allegations of cheating on Sally’s part. The baby still came by Sally’s sperm and another woman’s eggs. Shepherd wanted nothing to do with Lamar Sally, Sr. or Jr. But, Sally filed a maternity suit against Shepherd and in a landmark ruling, a judge ordered her to pay child support ($4,100 a month) and she still is. Shepherd even hinted Sally uses her child support money to back up his social media claim of being well off. Hmmmmmmm. Why did Shepherd marry the man that Actress Niecy Nash introduced her too? Shepherd says because she was lonely, and by the way, Shepherd and Nash are still friends. Sally has taken to socials to refute everything Shepherd said. Sally claims the two had a good marriage, and he won’t just let her say they married because she was lonely or horny. Sally also claims Shepherd abandoning THEIR son is between her and her God and he suggests she stop being bitter and get therapy. At press time, no response from Shepherd.
Disney’s The Lion King is back. In 1994 Disney released the animated version and it took in nearly a billion dollars worldwide. Now comes a reboot but think Will Smith’s Aladdin because this Lion King is a live action/animation/reality movie. I’ve got the new trailer on my Patty TV page on wdasfm.com. Donald Glover and Beyonce' Knowles-Carter head up the all-star cast that includes James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa with Alfre Woodard, Keegan-Michael Key, Eric Andre, Seth Rogan and Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years ASlave; Inside Man; Amistad) as Scar. The Lion King opens in theaters July 19th.
Entertainment Weekly has Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Elba on the cover. Hobbs & Shaw is their new movie and it’s the first spinoff from The Fast & The Furious movie franchise. Elba is the high-powered villain The Rock and Statham take on. Hobbs & Shaw hits theaters Friday, August 2nd.
In more Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson news, he and Kevin Hart will reunite for Jumanji: The Next Level. They’ll be joined by their original Jumanji Co-stars Jack Black and Karen Gillan plus there’s Danny Glover, Danny DeVito, Nick Jonas and Rapper/Actress Awkwafina. 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle took in over $960 million at the box office and set records for Sony Studios. Jumanji: The Next Level will be out this Christmas.
Speaking of sequels, I’ve got Black Panther II scoop and I also have a Black Panther 3 suggestion! First, the script for Black Panther II is being written now by Super Filmmaker Ryan Coogler, but there’s a hitch. Michael B. Jordan will not be in it. What?!!! I know we remember the villain we love to hate Killmonger, and, of course, the Michael B. Jordan workout regimen (SMILE), but Jordan won’t be in this sequel. Now I think we should pick up the pace kind of like Fast & The Furious and the Avengers movies and get Black Panther 3 ready and bring Jordan back for that one! Who’s with me on this? Now that Black Panther is a billion dollar franchise, let’s keep it going.
