Kanye West visited TMZ and stirred up a whole lot of controversy. The rapper was asked about his recent show of support toward President Trump which led him into a discussion on race and slavery, calling slavery a "choice," a form of mental imprisonment. His outward spiral led to TMZ staffer Van Lathan challenging West's thoughts or lack thereof.
With the video going viral, the conversation continued on Twitter with the hashtag #IfSlaveryWereAChoice.
I freed a thousand slaves I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves. - Harriet Tubman— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 2, 2018

Someone needs to send Kanye back 400 years ago to see what choices he would have had. I suppose he would have chosen death because that was the only other choice for slavery. Idiot. Just like his President. #IfSlaveryWereAChoice— Marie (@imaGRITS) May 2, 2018
