There are the heroes we know and there are the heroes we should know – Loraine Ballard Morrill puts Christine Sullivan and Aliyah Ali in that latter category.  They started a grassroots campaign to bring free produce to neighborhoods that a lack of access to fresh fruits and vegetables.  With donations and the support of friends they started a program called BYOB Bring Your Own Bag.

Personal style can be a true expression of our personalities and our histories. That’s the inspiration behind an exciting event at the Barnes Foundation on May 13th called Artist Bash: Personal Stories on Public Style that will feature poets, dancers, musicians and fashion designers performing and strutting the red carpet.  Loraine speaks with Kathleen Ogilvie Greene from the Barnes Foundation.

Each year for the past 12 years – Arcadia University has hosted the  Black Male Development Symposium. The Conference returns  on May 13th – which provide a unique opportunity for Black males and females, of all ages, to address the myriad of problems that are having an adverse effect on the socialization of young Black males. Board Member Andrea Lawful Sanders fills us in on the details and why this conference is more relevant than ever.
