There are the heroes we know and there are the heroes we should know – Loraine Ballard Morrill puts Christine Sullivan and Aliyah Ali in that latter category. They started a grassroots campaign to bring free produce to neighborhoods that a lack of access to fresh fruits and vegetables. With donations and the support of friends they started a program called BYOB Bring Your Own Bag.
Personal style can be a true expression of our personalities and our histories. That’s the inspiration behind an exciting event at the Barnes Foundation on May 13th called Artist Bash: Personal Stories on Public Style that will feature poets, dancers, musicians and fashion designers performing and strutting the red carpet. Each year for the past 12 years – Arcadia University has hosted the Black Male Development Symposium. The Conference returns on May 13th – which provide a unique opportunity for Black males and females, of all ages, to address the myriad of problems that are having an adverse effect on the socialization of young Black males.
