PowerCorpsPHL is a City of Philadelphia AmeriCorps program administered in partnership with EducationWorks and Philadelphia Youth Network that provides young adults with workforce development opportunities through environmental stewardship and service programs throughout the city. Loraine Ballard Morrill spoke with its Executive Director Lisa Varon and one participant, Bryan Johnson, who has moved up through the ranks of the organization. Johnson was recently named a finalist for the Mayor’s Day of Service Distinguished National Service Alumni Award.
Bethesda Project is committed to finding and caring for the abandoned poor and to be family with those who have none. Bethesda Project serves 2,000 homeless and formerly homeless men and women each year at 13 sites throughout Philadelphia. Loraine spoke to its CEO Tina Pagotto and Kathy Meck, Chief Development Officer about their unique approach to providing a network of support and care to assist homeless individuals in getting back on their feet.
