Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the third most common cause of death in the U.S. At least 15 million Americans have COPD. Women are at higher risk compared to men.

It is a chronic lung disease that includes emphysema and/or chronic bronchitis.

Although there's no cure, there are many things you can do to slow the progression—including learning more about it. Here are five things you should know about COPD with Candace Bromley, Lead Coordinator of the Chronic Care Centers COPD Program at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.
