Kwame Kilpatrick & Frankie Darcell (credit: F Darcell)
Detroit social media has been on fire throughout the day today, and so have calls to my cellphone, text messages and email of the pending release of the former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. My sources have noted he is slated to be released on June 10th, two days after his 50th birthday, as it related to the overwhelming impact that COVID-19 has had on our prison system. Details relative to his release are still private, confidential and as far as I'm concerned will stay that way. I have not wanted to get caught up in the rumor, speculation, sensationalism and innuendo. Thousands of Detroiters and people around the country who have felt the 28 years was severe are anticipating his release. Join me here on Facebook Live at 6pm for an extended conversation.
