'Fixer Upper' Star Joanna Gaines' Ultrasound Reveals Potential Health Scare

Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines recently took to Instagram to announce that they were planning on expanding their family with another child, but it seems like the well-wishes for their unborn fifth child have arrived with a potentially troubling health scare, as seen in the footage from their announcement post.

In the IG post, which was shared on Wednesday (January 3), followers of the television duo were quick to point out that there's excess fluid around the fetus. Aside from congratulatory messages, some went as far as suggesting that the reason for the excess fluid might be due to mimic hydrops fetalis, a sometimes fatal condition. TMZ reached out to radiologist Nicole Saphier, who practices at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and revealed that there is indeed skin edema (excess fluid in the skin), but the need for alarm isn't entirely conclusive.

In related news, season 5 of Fixer Upper will be the last for the Gaines family. Back in October, they told Today that the reason they are halting the show comes down to their children: Drake, 12, Ella, 11, Duke, 9 and Emmie Kay, 7.

"The most important thing in the world is Jo and I's relationship, followed very quickly by these four beautiful kids (of ours)," Chip explained. "We didn't want to push it, to redline it for so long that we woke up and realized we are at a point of no return. So we wanted to take a step back and focus on what is absolutely the most important thing to us."
