This Day in Music History: Johnnie Taylor

May 31,  2000: Soul singer Johnnie Taylor died of a heart attack in a Texas  hospital shortly after his 62nd birthday. In 1957, Taylor replaced Sam  Cooke in The Soul Stirrers. He scored a 1976 US No.1 hit with 'Disco  Lady'.
