Vivian Green was born on May 22, 1979 in Philadelphia. She is a singer-songwriter, pianist and actress. Vivian's early days were filled with singing, playing the piano and writing songs, and she joined a female quintet called Younique around the age of 13. Vivian Green wrote "Dear God" for Boyz II Men and received her big break as a backup singer for Jill Scott. She signed to Columbia Records in 2002 and released her debut album, A Love Story, which featured her first #1 single, "Emotional Rollercoaster." Green sang "Love for Sale" in the Cole Porter biopic, De-Lovely. She also played Brenda Holloway in NBC's tv series, American Dreams. Her second album, Vivian, was released in 2005 and included "Gotta Go Gotta Leave (Tired)" which hit #1 in both the dance charts and Hot Adult Airplay charts. In 2009, Green moved to E1 Music and released Beautiful in 2010, The Green Room in 2012, and Vivid in 2015. Vivian Green has collaborated with many artists including Cyndi Lauper, Guru, Jason Farmer, Phoe Notes, Bob Baldwin, Freeway, and Brian Culbertson. She has 6 studio albums under her belt to-date. Vivian Green is also a mother to son, Jordan, who was born in 2004. Green is an advocate for special needs children and took time between making music and touring to help care for her son Jordan, who needed extra care and medical attention as a small child. She has been nominated for a BET Award, a Soul Train Award and several Lady of the Soul Train Awards.
