TEDDY PENDERGRASS (2/13/23)
Teddy Pendergrass is one of the most legendary voices and iconic soul singers in the history of music. Born and raised in West Philadelphia, Teddy initially made his name as a highly regarded studio drummer that eventually caught the eye of Harold Melvin. Melvin extended an invitation to Pendergrass to join his group and the rest is history. Pendergrass spent 6 years as a member of The Blue Notes, before going solo in 1977 and releasing 5 consecutive platinum albums on the Philadelphia International Imprint. Pendergrass was paralyzed from the waist down in a car crash in 1982, butcontinued to successfully record until his death from Colon Cancer in 2010. In 2019, the documentary ‘If You Don’t Know Me ByNow’, was released on Showtime chronicling his incredible life story.
