Who is one of the most mysterious women in Hollywood? It has to be Scandal Star Kerry Washington. The new season of her hit drama kicks off Thursday, October 3rd at 10pm on ABC. She got married over the summer to Nnamdi Asomugha of the 49ers, but no one has ever seen a picture of the two together. Washington does wear her wedding ring, but why no pics? Word has it she could be pregnant. Hmmmmmmm! Washington was recently named People magazine's Best Dressed and made the cover of Glamour magazine. She is certainly building an air of mystery around her.

In more Scandal news, that show's Creator/Executive Producer Shonda Rhimes is a mom again. Rhimes recently adopted her third daughter, who joins sisters Emerson and Harper.

Chris Tucker is hosting The 2013 Marian Anderson Awards at the Kimmel Center. The event, saluting Motown Founder Berry Gordy, is happening Tuesday, November 19th.
Boyz II Men, Kool & The Gang and Smokey Robinson are performing. Philadelphia International Records Founders Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, who were once songwriters at Motown, are doing tributes. Past winners include Oprah Winfrey, Bill Cosby, Maya Angelou, Richard Gere, Mia Farrow and Quincy Jones. For more information call

Evelyn Lozada is ready to check out of Basketball Wives Miami. The show has
been in decline and lost a lot of buzz. Lozada has seen her share of drama with bullying and her short lived marriage to football's Chad Ochocinco Johnson. Lozada is tired of doing the show and sharing the spotlight with the other ladies (Tami Roman, Shaunie O'Neal). Will there be interest in seeing a show only about Lozada?

TV One's musical biography series UnSung is back! I love this show! This new episodes will feature Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Heavy D, Ce Ce Peniston and Philly's own Delfonics featuring insights from WDAS' Tony Brown. UnSung premieres Wednesday, October 30th.


The Real Housewives Of Atlanta is returning to the Bravo network Sunday,
November 3

NeNe Leakes kicked off her spinoff I Dream Of NeNe to good ratings on the
Bravo network. She is sporting a new look. In addition to two nose jobs and dental work, Leakes has had lipo on her chin, botox on her forehead, and she is wearing long hair. Leakes spinoff focuses on her re-marriage to first husband Gregg and the battles with his friends and the bridal party.

The Reverend Al Sharpton is ready to tell all in his new autobiography The Rejected Stone. Sharpton, 59, will talk about his rise from being a New York street activist and preacher to political candidate and civil rights spokesman. Sharpton will be appearing at the Keswick Theatre Thursday, October 10th. The Rejected Stone comes out October 8th.

On the hot book list and available now is Terry McMillan’s new book Who Asked You?, and Sunny Anderson of The Food Network has her new cookbook, Sunny's Kitchen: Easy Food For Real Life.

So how do you top your $100 million box office hit The Butler? Director and Philly native Lee Daniels is turning his attention to TV. He's working on a hip hop drama for the FOX network.

Tyler Perry will be joining Oscar Winner Ben Affleck in the movie Gone Girl. Perry will play a lawyer assisting Affleck. Filming starts next month. Meanwhile on December 13th, get ready for Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas  starring Anna Marie Horsford (Amen) and Tika Sumpter (The Haves & Have Nots). Perry is also working on new DVD projects: Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned and Madea's Neighbors From Hell.

Taye Diggs is a busy guy! Among other things, he is returning to TV. Diggs was last on the small screen in TV's Private Practice. In his new project on the TNT network, he'll play a homicide detective in the series Murder In The First. The show debuts next summer. Meanwhile, at the movies this week, check out Diggs in the new David E. Talbert
movie Baggage Claim with Paula Patton, Jill Scott, Boris Kodjoe, Trey Songz, Dijmon Hounsou and Derek Luke. This November, Diggs reprises his role as “Harper” in The Best Man sequel, The Best Man Holiday, with Morris Chestnut, Terrence Howard, Nia Long, Harold Perrineau, Monica Calhoun, Melissa De Sousa and Sanaa Lathan, opens in theatres November 15

Idris Elba is the cover guy for the latest issue of GQ magazine. He will be
playing former South African President and International Civil Right Icon Nelson Mandela in the movie The Long Walk Home. In the issue of GQ, Elba talks about drama in his life involving a child that wasn’t his.

El DeBarge has a new son-in-law. El’s daughter Adris DeBarge has married Actor/Comedian Finesse Mitchell. The couple got married over the weekend.

Denzel Washington is returning to Broadway in A Raisin In The Sun running
March 8
th –June 15th
2014 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre where the original play opened. A Raisin In The Sun also stars Diahann Carroll and Anika Noni Rose, and is slated for a 14-week run.

Singer Fantasia also returns to Broadway November 3rd in the musical After Midnight. The musical is being led by Jazz Great Wynton Marsalis, and will feature The Jazz At The Lincoln Center All-Stars. The musical is about the legendary Cotton Club.

The U.S. Postal Service has issued a Forever stamp for Legendary Entertainer and music's “Genius” Ray Charles.

Jamie Foxx, who won an Oscar playing Ray Charles, is back on DVD in his latest movie, White House Down with Channing Tatum. 2014 is going to be a big movie year for Foxx. He will be playing “Electro” in the new Spiderman movie which opens in theatres next May. In December 2014, he will be one of the stars of the movie version of Annie with
record breaking Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis and Cameron Diaz. Will & Jada Pinkett Smith and Jay Z are producing the movie.

Season 5 of The Voice kicked off this week, and one of the highlights from
the new season is local resident Matthew Shuler. Shuler is the 20-year old grandson of Bishop Alden A. Gaines of Consolation Baptist Church. He is an amazing singer, and he made history this past week on the show. All the judges, Christina, Adam, Blake and Cee-Lo, wanted him, but he picked Christina Aguilera. Will Matthew Shuler go on to win the show? The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.

Singer Ruben Studdard is the newest member of TV's The Biggest Loser. He now
weighs 462 pounds, and his weight is a matter of health. Studdard will soon turn 35-years old and knows the future is bleak without serious weight loss. When he last topped the scales at over 450 pounds, he exercised, became a vegan and that helped. But, when he
couldn't keep the weight off, the one time American Idol champion began looking for a permanent solution of hard work and dedication. The Biggest Loser's season premiere is October 8
th on NBC.

This has been a great TV year for the original Dreamgirl, Sheryl Lee Ralph. Ralph is one of the co-stars of Showtime's Ray Donovan, and she will be joining Tia Mowry (The Game/Sister, Sister) in the Nickelodeon series Instant Mom. The show also stars Michael Boatman and premieres Sunday night at 8:30 on Nick.

Are you ready for Good Times.... The Movie?!!! The movie will be based on the 70’s TV classic which starred Esther Rolle, John Amos, Bernadette Stanis, Ralph Carter, Ja'net DuBois, Johnny Brown, Janet Jackson and Jimmie Walker as Mr. Dy-No-Mite, J.J. Evans. I’m hearing Nick Cannon could be cast “J.J.”, and Oscar winning Comedienne Mo'Nique as “Florida Evans,” the family matriarch.

Get ready for A Very Mary Christmas. Mary J. Blige is set to release her first holiday album on October 15th. The CD will features 12 classic holiday remakes and duets with Barbara Streisand, The Clark Sisters and Marc Anthony. Grammy Award-winning Producer David Foster produced the project.

Bishop TD Jakes' BET talk show (Mind, Body & Soul) debuts October 6th.

The Soul Train Awards are happening December 1st on the BET and Centric networks. Anthony Anderson is hosting.

The Lifetime network is presenting The Gabby Douglas Story. Imani Hakim, who played the baby sister on Everybody Hates Chris, is starring as Douglass. Last year, Douglas was the Olympic darling becoming the first African American to become the individual all around champion and team Olympic winner for U.S. Women's Gymnastics. The movie will also star Regina King, Sydney Mikayla, Natalie Hawkins and S. Epatha
Merkerson. The Gabby Douglas Story is slated to premiere on Lifetime in 2014.

Get ready for The Preachers Of L.A. debuting on the Oxygen network October 9th.
Featured pastors include Deitrick Haddon and Bishop Noel Jones. Bishop Jones is the twin brother of Singer/Actress/Model Grace Jones. The 65-year old Pull Up To The Bumper icon is writing a tell all book, which is due out next fall. Besides the club classic “Bumper,”
Jones is also known for her appearances in the films Boomerang with Eddie Murphy and in the James Bond classic A View To A Kill with Roger Moore.

A big congrats to MC Lyte! The legendary rapper is getting a Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Hip Hop Awards October 15th on BET. Previous winners of the award include Salt N' Pepa, Russell Simmons, Ice Cube, Rakim and Grandmaster Flash.

Tamar Braxton and Baby Logan are the cover stars for the latest edition of
Ebony magazine. Braxton new CD, Love And War, is topping the charts. In Ebony, she opens up about her battle with infertility, and she addresses those plastic surgery rumors. Braxton fesses up to only getting botox.

Actress Viola Davis is the cover girl for Essence magazine. Davis is one of the stars of the movie Prisoners, which debuted at number one, with Hugh Jackman and Terrence Howard.

Jay Z’s Made In America Philadelphia concert will be a Showtime special that will air October 11th on the cable network. Oscar-winning Director Ron Howard is behind the documentary.

Eddie Murphy is back to making music. Murphy has a new album on the way called 9. The Comedy and Acting Icon's first single from the CD is the Reggae-flavored Red Light with Snoop Lion, a.k.a. Rapper Snoop Dogg.

Blair Underwood returns to TV in the remake of the classic detective drama
Ironside. The show debuts Wednesday, October 2
nd on NBC.

Toni Braxton re-teams with Babyface with the CD Love, Marriage and Divorce. The project is coming out December 3rd.

Kevin Hart's Real Husbands Of Hollywood TV parody returns to BET Tuesday, October 15th at 10pm.

The TLC movie is airing on VH1 October 21st. The TV biopic stars Lil' Mama, Keke Palmer and Drew Sidora. The movie is based on the lives of the TLC group members Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. 

The 76ers’ home opener is Wednesday, October 30th when they host the World Champion Miami Heat at the Wells Fargo Center.
