Newly engaged Miami Heat Star Dwyane Wade is a dad again, but it's not by his fiancée Gabrielle Union. Wade popped the question to Union late last month, but shortly after it was confirmed he fathered a child during a break the couple took in their relationship. Wade confirmed the break to Jay Leno on The Tonight Show months ago, but word of this affair and the child only came out  recently. Published reports say Union already knew about the child and the couple still plan on a fall wedding later this year. Meanwhile, Union's new BET drama Being Mary Jane with Omari Hardwick, Lisa Vidal, Margaret Avery, Tika Sumpter
and Richard Roundtree debuts January 7
th on BET.

Speaking of being on break, that's apparently what Rapper/Actor Ludacris took. He has now become a daddy again too, and like Dwyane Wade, it's also not with his longtime girlfriend Eudoxie. According to court papers, “Luda” has fathered a child with Tamika Fuller, and now the rapper is in court trying to get his child support capped. Ludacris has been with his former medical student girlfriend Eudoxie for sometime. Eudoxie is the one we see in those charity, red carpet and vacation pictures. The couple are still together because Ludacris
posted a picture of Eudoxie on New Year's Eve with an expensive piece of jewelry (a la Kobe Bryant). The rapper already has a twelve year-old daughter by a former girlfriend. 

Robin Roberts can now live her life as she pleases. Roberts came out of the closet earlier this week revealing she is gay. Roberts, 53, left a touching message to her Facebook fans thanking them for their support after she underwent a bone marrow transplant. She thanked her many supporters and friends, and longtime companion Amber Laign. Roberts
and Laign have been together for ten years. Laign is a massage therapist. Roberts recently signed a $14 million contract to stay on as host of the now top-rated news program, Good Morning America. Roberts is ready to live her life on her terms and not worry about what people may think about her private life.

Mary Harvey, the ex-wife of Comedian Steve Harvey, had to spend the holidays in jail after badmouthing her ex-husband. Mary has been bitter since her divorce from Steve. Mary claims she was cheated out of millions, that Steve abused their son, and that Steve a bigamist because he never divorced her. Does Mary Harvey need Iyanla Van Zandt? Mary was held in contempt of court by a judge who warned her about her public campaign against Harvey. A couple of years ago, she made headlines when she wrote a book to counter his bestseller, and later movie, Think Like A Man called Why Do I Have To Think Like A Man.

Shaunie O’Neal is butting heads with her ex-husband, Basketball Superstar Shaquille O'Neal. Shaunie wants to feature their kids in her new VH1 reality show, but Shaq says no way. The O’Neals have five kids, and she wants to feature them in her new show The Shaunie Project. Shaunie's new show will present her in a much different light than her controversial turn on the Basketball Wives reality show.

How is Baseball Player Carl Crawford going to manage his women and his babies? Crawford is a star the Los Angles Dodgers, and he just signed a contract for 7 years and $142 million, but Crawford has complicated life. He recently became engaged to controversial Reality Star Evelyn Lozada. She used to be married to Chad Ochocinco Johnson, and she is
the ex-fiancee of Basketball Player Antoine Walker. Lozada is 7 months pregnant, and Crawford gave her a 14.5 diamond carat ring. Crawford just had a baby five months ago with another woman who is also the mother of his five-year old. Babymomma number one wants to make sure she is not left out by money-wise by consulting with lawyers and coming out of hiding. She claims Crawford kept her hidden, but now she is moving to Los Angeles to be near him. In the meantime, Lozada is smiling ear to ear. She knows she has finally hit the jackpot, and is singing all the way to the bank.

We begin the New Year with the news of two acting icons' passing at the very end of 2013. Actor James Avery was best known to millions as “Uncle Phil,” Will Smith's no nonsense guardian on the NBC 90's sitcom The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air. Avery passed away New Year's Eve at the age of 68 from complications of open heart surgery Fresh Prince Co-star Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Avery's TV son  “Carlton Banks,” called Avery a second father on and off screen. Avery visited me at the DAS studios back near 2004 when he was performing in a play in Center City. The late actor also battled diabetes and it's effects on his
kidneys and left foot. Avery is survived by his wife and stepson.

Actress Juanita Moore has died at the age of 99, a week before New Year's Day. Moore is best known for her role in the 1959 remake of the film Imitation Of Life. Moore and her on screen daughter, Actress Susan Kohner, were both Oscar nominated for Best Supporting Actress for that movie. They played a single mother and daughter, respectively, who struggle with the daughter's desire to pass for white. Moore's acting opportunities were better on the stage than on film. She traveled internationally from Broadway to England in such works as Raisin In The Sun and The Amen Corner. Moore is survived by three sons and a daughter.

R Kelly and Mary J. Blige are planning on touring together in the new year. Kelly confirmed The King & Queens Tour will include his performing new material from his latest release Black Panties.

Katherine Jackson is headed back to court against concert promoters AEG Live. The 83-year old is asking for another chance to sue AEG for what she claims is their part in the death of her son Michael Jackson. The Jackson family matriarch blames the concert promoters for the hiring of Dr. Conrad Murray, the man convicted of manslaughter in the death of The King Of Pop. Murray was released from prison late last year after serving less than two years
of his four-year sentence. Mom Katherine claims a number of mistakes were made during the first trial against AEG and another trail should be granted.

In more Jackson news, Michael's daughter Paris will not be coming home anytime soon. Despite going on a Hawaiian vacation with her birth mother, Debbie Rowe, sources close to the troubled teen say she will need to undergo years of counseling. Paris is currently living in a boarding school in Utah, where she undergoing counseling to deal with her many problems.

Wayne Brady will host The 2014 BET Honors. The show airs Monday February 24th on BET.

Niecy Nash has another hit on her hands with her new HBO series Getting On. The show recently wrapped up its first season, and hopefully will be renewed for a second season. I discovered Getting On over the holiday season, and I love it. The show is about hospital workers who work in the geriatric ward, and also stars Laurie Metcalf and Alex Borstein.
Getting On is touching and very funny. Plus, the show gives you an insight on the care of the elderly. Make sure you catch it in reruns on HBO.

The Gabby Douglas Story is coming to the Lifetime network on Saturday, February 1st. Imani Hakim (Everybody Hates Chris) will play the Olympic darling, and Regina King and S. Epatha Merkerson will also star.

Look for the return of Mo'Nique this year. The Oscar winner has been quiet since her late night talk show ended on BET. Mo'Nique will be hosting the reunion show for the popular VH1 reality show Love & Hip Hop.

How will Oprah Winfrey celebrate the big 6-0? I hear she has put off plans to have a huge gala celebration like her 50th celebration. She was planning a huge celebration, but friends say she now plans to celebrate quietly with bestie Gayle King and long time love Stedman Graham. One celebration that will not be quiet is the 50th birthday celebration for First Lady Michelle Obama. She reaches her half-century mark on January 17th. I hear there will be lots of dancing.

Following up his performance in Mandela: A Long Walk To Freedom, Actor Idris Elba will play a crazed stalker in his next movie No Good Deed. The movie will also star Taraji P. Henson and is due out this September.

Winnie Mandela, the ex-wife of Nelson Mandela is in debt, and she may have to sell her possessions. The former First Lady of South Africa saw a drastic change in her life when Mandela divorced her.

Now that Football Player Nnamdi Asomugha has retired from the NFL, will he live off his wife's Scandal money? No! Asomugha is married to Scandal Star Kerry Washington, and they are expecting their first child this spring. Asomugha had an impressive career with the Raiders and the Eagles, where he got $25 million when he left the team. Now, he's retired from the NFL after leaving the 49ers. Asomugha was wise with his money, and he is well off. Meanwhile, season three of Scandal is being cut short because of Kerry Washington's pregnancy. Washington, 37, is due in the spring. Scandal returns to ABC with 8 new episodes in late February.

Congratulations to Philadelphia natives & Singers/Songwriters Darryl Hall and John Oates. They're best known as the duo Hall & Oates, and they are going to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame next April. Hall & Oates have been together over 45 years. They had their biggest hits in the late 70’s and 80’s including Sara Smile, I Can’t Go For That, Kiss On My List, Private Eyes, One On One and Rich Girl.

Queen Latifah is the covergirl for the latest edition of Good Housekeeping magazine. Latifah opens up about her weight, alcohol abuse and her brother's death. Queen Latifah's daytime talk show airs locally at 3pm on CBS3.

Martin Lawrence returns to TV next year in the comedy Braddock & Johnson on the FX network. Lawrence will be be joining Kelsey Grammer (Cheers, Frasier) in the comedy about two Chicago lawyers. Actress/Singer Telma Hopkins (Gimme A Break, Half & Half) is also a part of the cast playing Lawrence's mother.

Ice Cube will be back with a sequel to the hit movie 21 Jump Street called 22 Jump Street. The sequel will star Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill returning to their roles as undercover cops pursuing drug dealers on a college campus. Ice Cube is producing the movie slated to be released next June. In the meantime, check out Ice Cube and Kevin Hart in the movie Ride Along, which opens in theatres January 17th.

Awards season is here. The SAG Awards were announced. Actors Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) and Forest Whitaker (The Butler) received Lead Actor Nominations and Oprah Winfrey (The Butler) received Supporting Actress. Ejiofor and Whitaker also share the cover of this month's Ebony magazine. 12 Years a Slave and The Butler were both nominated for Outstanding Ensemble. Next up, The Golden Globe Awards where The Butler, the $100
million blockbuster re-released in theaters now, was shutout. The Golden Globes usually hint toward the Oscar nominations, but not always. Actors Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) and Idris Elba (Mandela: A Long Walk To Freedom) were nominated for Lead Actor. Ejiofor and expectant daddy Elba are double nominees. Elba is also up for Best Actor for his BBC series Luther, and Ejiofor is also up for the TV movie Dancing On The Edge. Expectant mommy Kerry Washington (Scandal) is up for Best Actress. The Golden Globe Awards air January 12
th on NBC, and The SAG Awards air on TBS and TNT January 18th.

Next fall get ready for the return of The Real. The show kicks off fall of 2014, and will air on FOX and BET. The daytime talker, starring Actress Tamera Mowry-Housley, Singer Adrienne Bailon, Comedienne Loni Love and Actress Jeannie Mai, was a hit during its test run. The show was billed as a younger version of The View. The ladies all signed two-year contracts.

How hot is Actress Tika Sumpter? Along with her current hit movie, Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas, in theaters now, she has other movies coming out over the next year including Ride Along with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube and the James Brown bio-pic Get On Up. Plus, there's her hit Tyler Perry TV drama The Have And Have Nots, which was renewed for a second season after breaking all kinds of ratings records on the OWN cable network. The Have And Have Nots return January 7th.

Unsung: The Hollywood edition kicks off February 26th on TV ONE featuring segments on Pam Grier, Flip Wilson, Robin Harris and Dick Gregory.

Babyface will be producing a new album for The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin, which is due out next spring. He produced a hit for Lady Soul before with the chart-topper Willing To Forgive.

Speaking of Babyface, he and Toni Braxton have returned to the top of the
charts. Their hit duet single, Hurt You, is an R&B number one. Toni's last chart topper, Just Be A Man About It, was in 2000. Babyface last hit number one in 1997 with Every Time I Close My Eyes. The duo are headed to Broadway next spring in the Wynton Marsalis production After Midnight. The musical is about the Harlem Renaissance and The Cotton Club and includes many top name musicians coming in and out of the production. This will be Babyface's Broadway debut. Toni Braxton has performed on Broadway before in Beauty &
The Beast and Aida. Braxton and Babyface will be in the musical March 18-30
th for a limited run. Toni Braxton is also writing her memoirs in Unbreak My Heart, which is coming out February 2014. Babyface and Toni Braxton's new CD, Love, Marriage & Divorce, is available now.

The court drama Divorce Court with Lynn Toler has been renewed for the
2014-15 season.

Erica Campbell of Mary Mary facing criticism? Yes! Her tight wardrobe from pictures intended for her new solo gospel CD, The Help, were leaked. Many took to social media criticizing Campbell for putting record sales above all else with her wardrobe selection. Some fans have come to her defense. The Help is due out March 24th. Meanwhile, season three of Mary Mary’s reality show will deal with infidelity, fighting with their manager and Erica's voice problems. The show returns to WE-TV on February 27th at 9pm.

Sisters With Voices, a.k.a. SWV's Coko, LeLee, Taj, are is getting ready for their new reality show which debuts Thursday, January 23rd on WE-TV.

Filming starts next summer on the movie Brothers starring Basketball's Lebron
James and Kevin Hart. They two play brothers measuring in at 6’8 and 5’3 in this basketball fantasy. The two are already appearing together in a Samsung TV commercial.

Oscar Winner Jamie Foxx will be all over the big screen in 2014. Foxx is playing the villain Electro in the new Amazing Spiderman II movie, which opens in theatres May 2nd. Foxx is also starring in the movie musical of Annie with Quvenzhane Wallis in theatres December 2014.

Second time mommy Halle Berry will be busy in 2014. Berry gave birth to her son Maceo in October. Berry also married Actor Olivier Martinez this year, and now she is set to get back to work. Berry reprises her role as “Storm” in The X-Men movie Days Of The Future Past, which opens in theatres May 23rd. Plus, Berry is headed to TV. She'll be starring in the CBS drama Extant. The show, produced by Steven Spielberg, is about an astronaut trying to reconnect with her family after spending a year in outer space.

Season 13 of American Idol kicks off January 15th on FOX with a new set of  judges: Harry Connick, Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban.

Tamar Braxton is topping her spectacular year (a new baby, awards, two albums, talk show and reality show) with a new relationship book. The book, Love And War, is co written with her husband and Manager Vince Herbert.

Prince will be headlining the 20th Annual Essence Music Festival in New Orleans July 4th -6th next year.

Nia Long will be one of the stars of the Tyler Perry movie Single Moms' Club, which opens in theatres May 9th. Taye Diggs returns to TV in the TNT drama Murder In The First. Regina Hall has starring roles in About Last Night with Kevin Hart, which opens in theatres February 14th, and Think Like A Man II, which opens June 20th.
Harold Perrineau and Terrence Howard team up with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie Sabotage, which comes out April 14
th. Finally, Sanaa Lathan will team up with Forest  Whitaker and Anthony Mackie for the movie Repentance, which opens in theatres February

The Queen Latifah produced drama Single Ladies, starring LisaRaye, Charity Shea and Denise Vasi, is returning to VH1 for a third season on January 6th.

Denzel Washington is returning to Broadway in A Raisin In The Sun running March 8th –June 15th 2014 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre where the original play opened. A Raisin In The Sun also stars Diahann Carroll and Anika Noni Rose, and is slated for a 14-week run.

Live Saturday Night is back with the Party Animals Mimi Brown and Cut Master Butter. The Saturday night live broadcast is happening from Ms. Tootsie's, 1312 South Street from 9 til' midnight.


This Legend just celebrated a huge milestone with his love. But, with all the talk of sidejawns
getting pregnant during these recent “breaks,” did it and will it spoil celebrations plans? The Legend has been known to take a “break” or two himself back in the day.
