Singer Lauryn Hill says she is adjusting to prison life. Hill is currently serving a three-month sentence for tax evasion. Hill says she grateful for her fans and asks for their continued support during this trying time for her and her family.

There appears to be trouble with the newly formed supergroup TGT. Singers
Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank came together to form the group and release a CD. There were talks of a tour and a lot of press, but it appears jealousy, substance issues and egos are getting in the way of what could be a great collaborative effort. Will the supergroup survive their issues?

Fantasia is headed to Broadway in October. She has not been on the great white
way since The Color Purple. Fantasia is teaming up with Jazz Legend Wynton Marsalis in a  musical production about the legendary Cotton Club.

Dr. Conrad Murray says he has no interest in testifying in the Michael Jackson wrongful death suit. Dr. Murray is currently serving four years in prison for involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson. He says if he's pushed too far about testifying, he'll reveal the real reason why Michael Jackson cut ties with his family. Dr. Murray says he doesn’t want to testify, and just wants to be left alone. Meanwhile, Katherine Jackson underwent a grueling three days (over nine hours) on the stand. Katherine, 83, is suing AEG Live. She filed this wrongful death lawsuit against AEG Live for negligent hiring of Dr. Conrad Murray. The trial is to established
how much responsibility AEG must take for The King Of Pop's death.

Tamar Braxton is one busy lady! Her latest CD, Love And War, is coming out in early September, and she’s also embarking on a tour with Singer John Legend. They will be at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City on October 25th. I recently interviewed Tamar, the new mom, and she said she loves motherhood. In early summer, Tamar and her husband Vince Herbert welcomed their first child, a boy named Logan. Tamar also has a hit on her hands with her new talk show The Real. The show features
Actress Tamera Mowry-Housley (Sister, Sister), Singer Adrienne Bailon (The Cheetah Girls), Comedienne Loni Love and Actress Jeannie Mai (How Do I Look). The chemistry between the ladies is amazing. The show has been doing very well in its test run, and it airs locally at 11am on FOX29. Tamar says even though she envisioned herself having her own show, she is having a ball being part of an ensemble group.

Get ready for the return of Basketball Wives: Miami. Season five kicks off August 19th.

Kenya Moore is getting a raise! The former Miss USA was a breakout star on last season's Real Housewives Of Atlanta, so the producers are upping her salary. Moore will be getting $600,000 for the season. Who knows what tricks Moore will have for the new season with NeNe Leakes and the crew.

Wesley Snipes is officially out of jail. He recently left a halfway house after serving a three-year prison sentence for tax evasion. Snipes is still under one-year supervised probation, but he is expected to start work on the latest Expendables movie with Sylvester Stallone.

As Bobbi Kris prepares to marry her play brother/fiance Nick Gordon, will she make him sign a prenup? Is Nick marrying Bobbi Kris for her future fortune? This relationship has been controversial from the start. Gordon was unofficially adopted by the late Whitney Houston, and he was raised as Bobbi Kris' half brother. When Houston died, Bobbi Kris turned to Gordon for comfort, and they have been in a
relationship ever since. The two are now engaged to be married. Bobbi Kris has credited Gordon with helping her get her physical self together. Bobbi Kris recently shared photos via social media showing off her newly toned body. Cissy Houston and Bobby Brown have never agreed on anything before, but the one thing they do agree on now is they are not happy with Bobbi Kris and Gordon. Bobbi Kris is estranged from her grandmother and father, and she does not care what they think. Cissy feels Gordon is in it for the money, and does not care for Bobbi Kris.

Mike Tyson is returning to boxing. Tyson is starting a boxing promotion company called The Iron Mike Production Company. Later this year, his one man Broadway show is coming to HBO.

Actor/Comedian Sinbad is working to get out of bankruptcy. Sinbad recently graduated from debt school, where he took a course on personal financial management. Sinbad had to file for bankruptcy twice owing millions to debtors.

Jet magazine has a new look.  The magazine has an exciting new layout and more features. This issue also features articles on Ron Isley and Kevin Hart. I am loving the new look of Jet. The cover features Oscar Winner Octavia Spencer and Michael B. Jordan, the stars of the movie Fruitvale Station.

Speaking of Fruitvale Station, it's at the movies this week. The true story of Oscar Grant, III, who was unarmed when he was shot to death by a Bay
Area rapid transit officer. The movie was director by Ryan Coogler. Oscar winner Forest Whitaker is the executive producer of the project. Along with Spencer and Jordan, the film also stars Melanie Diaz.

On Friday, August 16th, it’s Lee Daniels' The Butler, which is the true story of White House Butler Eugene Allen, who served under eight presidents between 1952-1986. The movie stars Oscar Winner Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Terrence Howard, Lenny Kravitz, Jane Fonda, Robin Williams, Mariah Carey and David Oyelowo. The movie goes through three decades. It covers everything from the civil rights movement to Vietnam, and how it affected Allen and his family.

Friends of Queen Latifah are worried about the entertainer. Latifah is set to
launch her daytime talk show on September 16
th, but at the same time she's caring for mother Rita, who has been sick. Friends say the stress of caring for an ailing parent and launching a new show may be too much for the Queen.

Morris Chestnut is proving to be one of the busiest men in Hollywood. His
latest movie, The Best Man Holiday, the sequel to The Best Man, opens in theatres in November. Plus, Chestnut just a signed a deal for his own series on the BET network.

It’s official, Jenny McCarthy has joined The View. McCarthy is no stranger to the show, the former Playboy Playmate and ex-MTV host has been a View guest 17 times. The new season for The View kicks off September 9th, and will have a whole new look with the departures of Hosts Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Joy Behar. Barbara Walters is leaving in 2014 for retirement.

Get ready for the return of Maxwell. The singer will be releasing a new album for the first time in 4 years. The album, Summers, is coming out this fall. Maxwell is currently topping the charts with Alicia Keys and their song Fire We Make.

Season 3 of Scandal is set for a Thursday, October 3rd season premiere on ABC. The BET network just snatched up the rights for the syndication of seasons 1 and 2. They will start airing those reruns in late summer. Scandal star Kerry Washington, a.k.a. Mrs. Nnamdi Asomugha, is on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine, and she’s just been nominated for an Emmy for her role as “Olivia Pope” on Scandal. The Emmy Awards air September 22nd on CBS.

The Cos returns to TV.  Bill Cosby is coming to cable's Comedy Central with a concert film of his stand up comedy. The special, Far From Finished, is directed by Robert Townsend, who also directed Eddie Murphy's record breaking comedy concert, Raw, 25 years ago. It's a reunion because Cosby, 76, was in Townsend's film Meteor Man in 1993. Cosby's Far From Finished will air on Comedy Central on November 24th,
marking the 30
th anniversary of 1983's Bill Cosby: Himself, the concert film that
became the basis of The Cosby Show.

The MTV Video Music Awards are happening August 25th. Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars and Robin Thicke are leading the nominations.

Oscar Winner Denzel Washington made Forbes' list of highest paid actors. Washington took a paycut for his hit film Flight, but took a percentage of the box office receipts. The movie made over $162 million, and he walked away with a reported $33 million. The two-time Oscar winner's new movie, 2 Guns with Mark Wahlberg and Paula Patton, comes out August 2nd. Check out Denzel and his wife Pauletta on the cover of the latest Ebony magazine.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who came in at number 5 on the Forbes actor's
list thanks to GI Joe: Retaliation and Fast & The Furious VI, covers the August issue of Essence magazine for their Baddest Brothers Of 2013 edition.

Former CNN Contributor Roland Martin has a new show coming to TV One. Martin is hosting a daily, one hour news show, News One Now, that will launch in September. Martin already hosts the TV One Sunday news show Washington Watch.

The 90’s singing trio SWV is getting their own reality show. Coko, Lelee and Taj will debut their show on the WE TV channel next year. SWV is coming to Philly on Thursday, August 8th in concert with Bell Biv Devoe at the Dell Music Center, 33rd
and Ridge.

The movie version of Black Nativity opens in theatres November 27th
starring Angela Bassett, Mary J. Blige, Forest Whitaker and Jennifer Hudson.

Oprah Winfrey is bringing back fan favorite Welcome To Sweetie Pie's to the
OWN lineup on July 27

The PBS network will be airing a new special, The March, commemorating
the 50
anniversary of the 1963 March On Washington. It was at that civil rights event where the Reverend, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his epic I Have A Dream speech. The special airs August 27th on PBS.

Arsenio Hall returns to late night TV in September 9th. His show will air locally on MYphl17.

Earth, Wind & Fire return with a new CD entitled Now, Then, Forever. The
CD comes out September 10

The R&B Hall Of Fame induction ceremony takes place October 3rd. This year's honorees include The Temptations, James Brown, The O’Jays, Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Miracles, Jackie Wilson, The Marvelettes and Marvin Gaye.

It's another edition of Motown-Philly as Motown Founder Berry Gordy is
being honored with The Marian Anderson Award on November 19
. The festivities, including a performance tribute, will take place at the Kimmel Center at Broad and Spruce Streets.
