What is next for Bobby Brown now that he has dropped out of the New Edition tour? In an official statement, Brown said he backed out of the tour for medical reasons. But, sources say the guys weren’t getting along, and it all came down to money. This tour has been going well, but you have a lot of egos with six guys: Ralph, Johnny, Mike, Ronnie, Bobby and Ricky. Brown was having a hard time keeping up with the guys on stage. The New Edition show is very physical with lots of dancing. Brown recently introduced his new cook line which features BBQ sauces and a line of cookware. For more info go to




Tracy Morgan is on the mend from a horrifying limo accident, and now he is suing Walmart. A few weeks ago, the 30 Rock comedian almost died, and his manager was killed in the crash. The driver of the Walmart truck has been charged in the accident. In Morgan's suit, he alleges the Walmart driver had not had sleep for over 24 hours, and Walmart knew they had drivers who were on the road suffering from sleep deprivation. Morgan is out of rehab and undergoing therapy at home.




Living With The Jacksons is a new reality show coming from the Jackson Family. The lineup includes Alejandra Jackson and her five children. Alejandra has quite an interesting past. She was with Randy Jackson and had two children by him. Then Randy cheated on Alejandra with another woman. Randy got that woman pregnant. Alejandra was hurt, so she sought comfort from..........Randy's brother Jermaine. One thing lead to another, And Alejandra married Jermaine and had two kids by him. The fifth child came from a child that Joe and Katherine Jackson adopted earlier, and Alejandra adopted that boy from them, her parents-in-law. We will have plenty of time to see him and the other Jacksons this Fall when their reality show debuts on the Reelz Channel. Randy and Jermaine's relationship has never been the same since Alejandra bore both brothers children. Alejandra is also trying to get us to life as an independent woman. She's been on her own since she was ordered out of the Jackson home by Katherine Jackson. She feels it’s time to tell her story since Jermaine dumped her and married another woman.




Jay-Z and Beyonce are bringing their On Their Run tour to HBO. The Carters have been getting rave reviews for their latest tour. Look for the concert on HBO in late September.




Queen Latifah is also coming to HBO in a new movie about the life of Blues Singer Bessie Smith. In the 1920’s, Smith was the top selling Blues Artist of her time, but she died tragically in 1937 at the age of 43 following a car crash. Queen Latifah is starring in the movie Bessie along with Oscar Winner Mo'Nique.




We have baby news from two hunks. Actor Lance Gross and his fiancée Rebecca Jefferson are expecting their first child. And, Singer Tank is expecting with his girlfriend Zena Foster. She is due at the first of the year. This will be Tank's fifth child.




Season four has kicked off for Welcome To Sweetie Pie's. The reality show stars Robbie Montgomery focuses on her family and soul food business in St. Louis. The show airs Saturday nights at 9pm on Oprah Winfrey's OWN cable station.




After his recent arrest for public drunkenness, Actor Columbus Short is finally admitting to his drinking problem. This has been a rough year for the actor, who was fired from his hit TV show Scandal and arrested for threatening to kill his estranged wife. By admitting he has a problem, he may be at the start of him seeking help. Short was on a roll with his career playing “Harrison Wright” on Scandal. His movies include Stomp The Yard and This Christmas and he was a former background dancer for Britney Spears. For most of the year, he has been involved in public fights and brawls all due to his drinking.




Morris Chestnut is hosting a new docu-series on BET. Vindicated airs Sundays at 10pm on the cable station. Vindicated is a show about men and women exonerated for crimes they did not commit. The show takes a look at their life as they adjust to life beyond prison walls. Chestnut also has a new show debuting on TNT. Called Legends. Chestnut plays an F.B.I. agent. Legends debuts August 13th on TNT at 9pm.




The 66th Annual Prime Time Emmy Awards are happening August 25th at the Nokia Theatre on NBC. Kerry Washington has been nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Scandal. Idris Elba and Chiwetel Ejiofor got nominations for their work in Luther and Dancing On The Edge, respectively. Lead Actor in a mini series or movie. Don Cheadle picked up a nomination for Lead Actor in a Comedy series for his Cable series House of Lies. Angela Bassett was nominated for Supporting Actress for her work in American Horror Story as “Coven”.




Jill Scott, Eve and Regina Hall will be starring in the Lifetime movie “Vow”. Vow is about three singles ladies who vow to be married within a year after attending a friends big wedding.






After 19 years on FOX, NFL Sunday Sports Reporter Pam Oliver is being put on the sidelines as a number two reporter. Oliver is being replaced by Erin Andrews. Oliver said she saw it coming, especially after this past season when her various hairstyles became the butt of jokes on social media. Oliver, 53, took a lot of heat for her hairstyles, which at times looked a raggedy mess. It’s a shame that her hair became such a major focus because she's very good at reporting. Now, as she enters her 20th year, she has a take a different and smaller role in the FOX NFL Broadcasts in favor of 36-year old Andrews.








Actress Nia Long is making history. She has been named the first African American spokesperson for Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds perfume. When Taylor was alive, she made the perfume a household name with proceeds benefiting the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. Long also has a new show on WE-TV called The Divide which airs Wednesday night at 9pm.




Bill Cosby is returning to NBC for his new sitcom. The show should air sometime next year. It was almost 50 years ago when Cosby starred on the NBC show I Spy (1965-1968), and became the first African American actor to win the Emmy for Lead Actor in a Drama. Thirty years ago after some successes and some failed series, Cosby premiered The Cosby Show on NBC (1984-1992), which stayed number one in the Nielsen ratings for a record five years straight and pulled NBC from last place. NBC is hoping for the same magic with a new Cosby family sitcom in 2015.




Chef Garvin returns to the Cooking Channel with his show On The Road with G Garvin airing Tuesday nights at 10pm.




Gladiators your favorite show is coming back! Scandal returns Thursday September 25th with a 22 episode season on ABC and a new time, 9pm. Scandal Creator Shonda Rhimes' latest show, How To Get Away With Murder starring Viola Davis, debuts on that same premiere night at 10pm. Scandal is facing some tough competition this fall. On NBC, they are moving their hit show The Blacklist from Mondays to Thursdays at 9pm. CBS will be airing their new Thursday Night Football show.




Frankie Beverly & Maze will be touring with Patti LaBelle. Their Philly show is scheduled for Sunday, September 7th at the Mann Center For The Performing Arts.




Plans are going ahead for a movie about Comic Legend Richard Pryor. Nick Cannon is being rumored to star as Pryor and Lee Daniels (The Butler, Monster's Ball) will be directing. Cannon is best known as host of the NBC talent show America's Got Talent, being married to Singer Mariah Carey and being part of the cast of BET's Real Husbands Of Hollywood. Can Cannon pull it off? Remember he has done drama before as the lead in the movie Drumline.




Speaking of Cannon and BET, Season three of the Kevin Hart's fake reality show Real Husbands Of Hollywood with Nick Cannon, Boris Kodjoe, Duane Martin and Rapper Nelly, kicks off in October.




Singer Deborah Cox has been tapped to do the singing parts for the Whitney Houston bio pic produced for the Lifetime cable network. Ya Ya DeCosta (America's Next Top Model; Honeydripper) stars as Houston and Arlen Escarpeta (American Dreams; Friday The 13th) plays Bobby Brown. Angela Bassett, Houston's Waiting To Exhale co-star, is directing.






Do The Right Thing is coming to Broadway. The 1989 Spike Lee movie is coming to Broadway, but not as a musical. It will be adapted into a play. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the release of Do The Right Thing, the movie.






Taye Diggs is one busy actor. In addition to his work on the TNT drama, Murder In The First, he will be guest starring in six episodes of the CBS Drama The Good Wife. The new season of Good Wife kicks off September 21st.






Apollo Nida of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta will be going away for eight years for cashing stolen checks and a money laundering scheme. He could have gotten 30 years, but he cooperated with authorities. Since he still has to serve jail time, how will his wife Phaedra Parks go on without her husband and the father of her two small children? How will this affect the future episodes of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta?






Steve Harvey is coming to Philly. He is bringing his Act Like A Success Empowerment tour to the Tower Theatre, Saturday, February 21st. Harvey is taking a cue from Oprah Winfrey by reaching out to help people. Help people climb their ladder of success.






More babies for Beyonce's Dad! Matthew “Papa” Knowles, the father of Beyonce and Solange Knowles, has been hit with another paternity suit. Suit number two is from a 30-year old lingerie model named TaQoya Branscomb. Branscomb claims Knowles is the father of her two-year old, and she was a casual acquaintance of Knowles' daughter Solange. This affair was not known to Solange. Knowles is already paying child support to Alexsandra Wright. She gave birth to his son. Last year, Knowles recently got married to former Model and Real Estate Agent Gena Avery, a woman who does not have children with Knowles. Knowles was married to Beyonce and Solange's mom Tina for almost 30 years. Branscomb is seeking a DNA test, child support and declaration of paternity. The past few years have been tough for Papa Knowles. His daughter Beyonce fired him as her manager after he cheated on her mother, and then his income opportunities dried up.




Apollo Live with Host Tony Rock returned to BET. The show features Judges Doug E. Fresh, Gladys Knight and Michael Bivins, and airs Tuesday nights at 10pm on BET.

ESPN magazine is celebrating their annual Body Issue featuring a nude Venus Williams. The 34-year old tennis sensation bares all in more ways than one. Williams talks about her career and her road back to good health after battling the incurable muscle soreness disease Sjogren's syndrome. Also featured in the Body Issue: the WNBA's Angel McCoughtry, the NFL's Larry Fitzgerald and Boxer Bernard Hopkins.




A new season of the controversial reality show The Preachers Of L.A. kicks off August 20th on the Oxygen network.






Actor Anthony Anderson is coming to the Food Network. Anderson has a new food show Food Fest Nation, which premieres Monday, July 21st at 9pm on the Food Network. Anderson is traveling the country visiting all the top food festivals. His new ABC sitcom Black-ish, with Tracee Ellis Ross, kicks off in the fall.





Damon Wayans, Jr. is making his mark. His first big screen lead will be in the movie Let’s Be Cops, which opens in theatres August 13th. The movie also stars Actor Jake Johnson, and you can see my interview with Damon on the Patty TV page at





Halle Berry stars in Extant, a sci-fi series produced by Steven Spielberg. Extant is on CBS Wednesday nights at 9pm . Millions of viewers tuned in for the debut week.

The Made In America music festival is returning to Philadelphia on Labor Day Weekend, August 30th and 31st, with newlywed Kanye West, Pharrell, Kings of Leon and J Cole, to name a few. There's also an L.A. Made In America in the works. Plus, the documentary about the first Made In America concert is available now on DVD. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 2014 Made In America will take place on the Ben Franklin Parkway, and tickets are on sale now.






On August 1st, Get On Up, the life story of James Brown, opens in theaters. Get On Up stars Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Tika Sumpter, Dan Aykroyd and Jill Scott.




Wesley Snipes is back on the big screen with the movie Expendables III with Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terry Crews and Dolph Lundgren. The movie opens in theatres August 1st.
