Do Singers El DeBarge and Pebbles have a little secret? Did they have a have a secret love child together? Well, depending on who who you ask. It’s a little confusing, but don't forget, “Love Makes Things Happen.” Sebastian “Tian” McKissack is a young man in his 20’s, and he’s writing a book called Deceptions. In the book, he claims he is the secret love child of Pebbles and El DeBarge. Pebbles has responded to his claim. The Mercedes Boy singer took to social media to say she only has two children, and this young man is delusional. Now according to El DeBarge's mother, Etterlene, the long rumored story is true. Etterlene DeBarge also adds that McKissack even lived with her for a while. No word from El on whether or not All This Love was waiting for Peebles. El is coming to Philly on Saturday, August 30th with The Isley Brothers and Atlantic Starr at the Dell Music Center. Tickets are on sale now.


Now speaking of babies, congratulations to Singer/Songwriter Eric Benet and his wife Manuela Testolini. Manuela just delivered their second daughter together named Amoura Luna. Amoura joins big sisters Lucia Bella, who is 2, and Eric's 23-year old daughter India. Eric is on his way to Philly to help celebrate Mimi Brown's 35th anniversary in radio at the Dell Music Center on Thursday, August 7th.



More baby news because Singer Alicia Keys is having two celebrations. She and her hubby, Producer Swizz Beatz, used their fourth wedding anniversary photo shoot to announce they are expecting baby number two together. The couple already have their three-year old son Egypt, and Swizz has three more children from previous relationships.



Finally, Actress Zoe Saldana is expecting twins with her husband, Italian Artist Marco Perego. She's due the first of the year. Saldana took to social media earlier to rip the tabloids for exposing her pregnancy earlier than she wanted. Saldana is one of the stars of the movie Guardians Of The Galaxy, which is in theatres this week.



Singer R Kelly was dropped from the Ohio concert event Fashion Meets Music Festival. Kelly was to headline, but concert organizers released a statement that it was a mutual decision to remove Kelly from the lineup. Word on the street is the overwhelming protests and complaints the concert promoters received coupled with other performers who refused to share the stage with Kelly fueled the decision.



New Edition is getting sued by their former managers. Their current tour is wrapping up this week, but they fired their management company two weeks ago. Benchmark Entertainment has been repping the group for the past two years. The management company claims they masterminded this current tour, and the group voted to fire them and has refused to pay them. Benchmark Entertainment claims they are owed $500,000. The tour has had some bumpy moments, including Bobby Brown leaving the tour and then rejoining citing exhaustion. Sources say Bobby had a hard time keeping up with the challenging choreography during the show.


Robin Thicke is throwing in the towel regarding his marriage to Actress Paula Patton. They two have been split since February amidst stories of his cheating. They have a young son Julian. Thicke begged, pleaded, even wrote an album for Patton but to no avail. Patton wants out. Thicke recently put their home up for sale, and word has Patton may have already moved on with another man.



Get Ready for The Best Man III. The Best Man Wedding will be the third installment in the movie franchise. Last year's first sequel, The Best Man Holiday starring Taye Diggs, Morris Chestnut, Terrence Howard, Harold Perrineau, Regina Hall, Monica Calhoun, Melissa De Sousa and Nia Long, was a smash taking in over $70 million at the box office. Writer/Director Malcolm D. Lee is slated to helm once again with the original cast reprising their roles again. The movie is due spring of 2016.


Speaking of The Best Man, Co-star Terrence Howard is crying broke. Howard owes his ex-wife Michelle Ghent $325,000 in spousal support. Howard recently went to a judge seeking a reduction in his payments. Howard says he was only married to his ex for a year, so why is he paying her so much money? Howard says he only makes $6,000 a month. His new TV drama, Empire, debuts in January on FOX.



In more Best Man news, the other cast members are already busy with other projects. Morris Chestnut is hosting a new docu-series on BET. Vindicated airs Sundays at 10pm on the cable station. Vindicated is a show about men and women exonerated for crimes they did not commit. The show takes a look at their life as they adjust to life beyond prison walls. Chestnut also has a new show debuting on TNT called Legends. Chestnut plays an F.B.I. agent. Legends debuts August 13th on TNT at 9pm.



Chestnut's Best Man Co-star Nia Long is making history of her own. She has been named the first African American spokesperson for Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds perfume. When Taylor was alive, she made the perfume a household name with proceeds benefiting the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. Long also has a new show on WE-TV called The Divide, which airs Wednesday nights at 9pm.


Finally, “Harper” himself is doing double duty. In addition to his work on the TNT drama, Murder In The First, Taye Diggs will be guest starring in six episodes of the CBS drama The Good Wife. The new season of Good Wife kicks off September 21st.



Mike Tyson has seen his life played out on Broadway. Now, the boxer wants to see his life played out on the big screen. Tyson says he would like Jamie Foxx to play him on the big screen. The last bio-pic Foxx did was the story of Ray Charles (Ray), and Foxx won an Oscar for his portrayal of the music legend.



Anthony Anderson is one busy guy. He has a show, Eating America, that airs on Monday nights at 9pm on the Food network. Anderson travels to food festivals all over the country. This fall, he stars in the ABC sitcom Black-ish with Laurence Fishburne, who is also co-executive producing with Anderson, and Girlfriends' Tracee Ellis Ross. Speaking of Ross, she is the cover girl for the latest issue of Upscale magazine.


Kem is back his new album, Promise To Love, which will be out August 26th.



Smokey Robinson is back with his new CD, Smokey & Friends. The legendary singer/songwriter is joined by Mary J. Blige, James Taylor, Sheryl Crow, Ledisi, Cee Lo Green and John Legend as they remake Smokey's greatest hits from his writing for other artists and his own Miracles and solo years. Smokey & Friends will be out August 19th.



Boyz II Men drop their new album Collide on September 30th.



Singer/Songwriter Marsha Ambrosius is back with a new project Friends & Lovers.


What’s going to happen to the surrogate baby between Comedienne Sherri Shepherd of The View and her estranged husband Lamar Sally? Shepherd just wrapped up a seven-year stint on The View. Since her split with Sally, she says she is backing out of the deal to be a parent to this child. The surrogate is carrying the child with Sally's sperm, but not with Shepherd's eggs. Shepherd and Sally were married for nearly three years. Sally wants Shepherd to pay child support for the child and live up to her part of the agreement to be a parent to this baby, who is due any day now.



In more Sherri news, look for the comedienne to join her fellow stand ups Kevin Hart and Chris Rock on the big screen. First, we'll see Shepherd team up with Rock in the movie Top Five, due in September. Then she'll join Kevin Hart and Ice Cube in their sequel, Ride Along II, due January 2016. The first Ride Along grossed over $150 million.


UnSung is back with a new season on TV One. The music and Hollywood bio-TV show will air through October with new episodes. Look for bios on Rick James, Wilson Pickett, Peaches & Herb, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, The Chi-Lites, The Emotions and Hi Five, just to name a few. UnSung airs Wednesdays at 8pm on TV One.



The 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards air in October. Snoop Dogg is hosting.



Don’t look for the return of the VHI reality show Basketball Wives. The show has been unofficially cancelled. Basketball Wives, created by Shaquille O’Neal's ex-wife Shaunie, was often criticized for the violence and pettiness of the women. The show starred Evelyn Lozada, Tami Roman and Jennifer Williams.



Halle Berry's new CBS drama Extant is getting a new time slot. The show has been moved to 10pm because at 9, it was having a hard time against the NBC reality show America's Got Talent.



Wesley Snipes returns to the big screen August 15th in the action movie The Expendables III. The movie also stars Sylvester Stallone, Harrison Ford, Jet Li, Mel Gibson, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgen and Antonio Banderas.



Singer/Entrepreneur/Philanthropist Jon Bon Jovi will be receiving The 2014 Marian Anderson Award in the fall. Along with being the Grammy-winning frontman for his group, Bon Jovi has been a tireless advocate for those suffering from HIV/AIDS and low income housing residents. He's also the majority owner of the arena football team The Philadelphia Soul, which his charitable organization is named after. Past Marian Anderson Award recipients include Ruby Dee & Ossie Davis, Elizabeth Taylor, Maya Angelou, Norman Lear, Mia Farrow and Bill Cosby. The festivities will take place in November.



Actress Regina King is doing triple duty. She'll reprise her role in the CBS top rated sitcom The Big Bang Theory this fall. Then, she's off to ABC for the legal drama American Crime with Oscar Winner Timothy Hutton. Finally, King puts her director's hat on for the hottest show on TV. She's slated to direct episode 16 of the Shonda Rhimes-ABC drama Scandal.


Jada Pinkett Smith returns to TV in the new primetime drama Gotham. The show debuts September 22nd on FOX.



Tyler Perry has a new stage production coming to Philadelphia. Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned will be at the Merriam Theatre September 30th –October 5th. Tickets are on sale now.



Saturday, August 30th is the wedding date for Basketball's Dwayne Wade and Actress Gabrielle Union. It’s going to a super private affair with no cell phones or cameras allowed. Meanwhile, look for Gabrielle Union in season two of Being Mary Jane. Filming just wrapped for the season, and the show returns to BET at the beginning of the year.



The 66th Annual Prime Time Emmy Awards are happening August 25th at the Nokia Theatre on NBC. Kerry Washington has been nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Scandal. Idris Elba and Chiwetel Ejiofor got nominations, as Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or Movie, for their work in Luther and Dancing On The Edge, respectively. Don Cheadle picked up a nomination for Lead Actor In A Comedy Series for his cable series House Of Lies. Angela Bassett was nominated for Supporting Actress for her work in American Horror Story as “Coven”.



SWV returns for season two of their WE reality TV show. Season two of SWV: Sisters With Voices kicks off August 14th. That's the same night season 4 kicks off for Braxton Family Values, also on the WE network. The Braxtons are at 9pm followed by SWV at 10pm.



The Wayans Brothers are coming to Philly. Saturday, August 2nd at the Tower Theatre on 69th Street in Upper Darby. It's Damon, Shawn, Marlon and Keenen.

Chef Garvin returns to the Cooking Channel with his show On The Road with G Garvin airing Tuesday nights at 10pm.



Gladiators your favorite show is coming back! Scandal returns Thursday, September 25th with a 22 episode season on ABC and a new time, 9pm. Scandal Creator Shonda Rhimes' latest show, How To Get Away With Murder starring Viola Davis, debuts on that same premiere night at 10pm. Scandal is facing some tough competition this fall. On NBC, they are moving their hit show The Blacklist from Mondays to Thursdays at 9pm. And, CBS will be airing their new Thursday Night Football broadcast.


A new season of the controversial reality show The Preachers Of L.A. kicks off August 20th on the Oxygen network.



Damon Wayans, Jr. is making his mark. His first big screen lead will be in the movie Let’s Be Cops, which opens in theatres August 13th. The movie also stars Actor Jake Johnson, and you can see my interview with Damon on the Patty TV page at



The Isley Brothers, Atlantic Starr and El DeBarge are the latest editions to this season's Essence Of Entertainment lineup at The Dell Music Center. They are coming Saturday, August 30th. Mary Mary will be there August 1st. The Whispers are celebrating their 50th , and so will I, on Sunday, August 3rd. There's also WDAS' own Mimi Brown's 35th Anniversary Show, Al Jarreau and Ledisi are just a couple of the stars now added to the summer 2014 season. Some of the artists scheduled to perform at the Dell include Dru Hill, The Bar-Kays, Lakeside, L.T.D., Lenny Williams, The Average White Band and Larry Graham & Graham Central Station on The Masters Of Funk show. The Made In America music festival is returning to Philadelphia on Labor Day Weekend, August 30th and 31st, with newlywed Kanye West, Pharrell, Kings Of Leon and J Cole, to name a few. There's also an L.A. Made In America in the works. Plus, the documentary about the first Made In America concert is available now on DVD. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 2014 Made In America will take place on the Ben Franklin Parkway, and tickets are on sale now.



At the movies this week, it's Get On Up, the life story of James Brown. Get On Up stars Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Tika Sumpter, Dan Aykroyd and Jill Scott. Boseman is amazing as The Godfather Of Soul. He really captures the spirit, the look and the soul of James Brown. Other outstanding performers in the movie include Nelsan Ellis, who plays Brown's longtime sidekick Bobby Byrd. Byrd died only a year after Brown passed in 2006. Ellis is best known for his role as the flamboyant “Lafayette Reynolds” in the HBO series True Blood. Craig Robinson stands out as the legendary Bandleader Maceo Parker, and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter from The Roots also appears as Bandmember Pee Wee Ellis.




Kindred The Family Soul is back with a new CD entitled A Couple Of Friends.
