The Lifetime network say they will tell the story of the late Singer Aaliyah, including her short-lived marriage to R Kelly. The Lifetime network is going ahead with their bio-pic. Aaliyah died when in 2001 when she was 22 years old. When she was 15 she married a then 27-year old Kelly, but her parents had the marriage annulled. Disney Star Zendaya Coleman will be playing Aaliyah in the movie. There have been whispers that the 17-year old Coleman may be replaced because of she doesn't resemble Aaliyah. The critics say Coleman's complexion is too light, but that's not coming from the Lifetime reps. Lifetime is also doing a movie on the late Whitney Houston starring Actress/Model Ya Ya DeCosta as Houston and directed by Angela Bassett.

So what’s next for Comedian/Actor Kevin Hart after the success of his latest movie? A film called The Wedding Ringer is Hart's next project. It's slated to hit theatres in January. Hart is also working on a new season of his BET comedy series The Real Husbands Of Hollywood. His current hit, Think Like A Man Too, came in number one at the box office with over $30 million.

Speaking of Think Like A Man Too, the ladies and men of the cast are part of a dual cover issue of Essence magazine after hitting # 1 at the box office. Gabrielle Union, Regina Hall, Meagan Good, Taraji P. Henson and LaLa Anthony look amazing. The ladies are a riot in this sequel to the movie based on Comedian Steve Harvey's bestselling book. The men of the movie Michael Ealy, Terrence J, Kevin Hart, Romany Malco and Producer Will Packer are on the second cover of Essence. While Packer is enjoying his success with his movies, he is also being sued by his former business associate who helped him start his film career. Bronner Brothers President Bernard Bronner (Upscale Magazine and Bronner Bros. Hair Care) filed the suit. Packer and his producing partner Rob Hardy say the suit is a result of dissolving their partnership with Bronner in the Rainforest film company. Packer says a majority stockholder vote is what happened, and while they are all friends, the lawsuit is without merit.

ESPN magazine is celebrating their annual Body Issue featuring a nude Venus Williams. The 34-year old tennis sensation bares all in more ways than one. Williams talks about her career and her road back to good health after battling the incurable muscle soreness disease Sjogren's syndrome. Also featured in the Body Issue: the WNBA's Angel McCoughtry, the NFL's Larry Fitzgerald and Boxer Bernard Hopkins.

Despite low ratings and no buzz, the old crew is coming back to American Idol. Harry Connick, Jr., Jennifer Lopez, and Keith Urban will be back in the judges' chairs with returning Host Ryan Seacrest. Season 14 of American Idol kicks off in January. The show will be shortened from 50 hours to 37 hours.

Get ready for a reunion of the 80’s hit TV sitcom A Different World. Oprah has most of the original cast for a future episode of Where Are They Now on OWN. A Different World Producer/Director Debbie Allen was instrumental in helping Winfrey with the reunion. That's because Allen is trying to bring the show back to TV. Allen says while she has the support of the show's original Creator and Co-Owner, Bill Cosby, she's still trying to get a network on board. The ground-breaking sitcom about life at a (fictional) historically black college was a spinoff of The Cosby Show, and was a top-five ratings hit for the majority of its run on NBC from 1987-1992.

Character Actor Eli Wallace has died. Younger generations will remember his performance in The Godfather III in 1990. In the 60's, Wallace starred as “Calvera” in the legendary film The Magnificent Seven, and he and Clint Eastwood made cinematic history in the spaghetti western genre when Wallace played “Tuco” in The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. Wallace was 98-years old.

Actor/Producer/Director/Singer Herb Jeffries has died. A pioneer in the black cinema, Jeffries made a string of cowboy films in the late 1930's when the genre was all but off limits to African Americans. He then went back to an original love: music. Jeffries recorded with Earl Hines and Duke Ellington before establishing himself as a solo artist. Jeffries continued singing and performing into his 90's. Herb Jeffries, “The Bronze Buckaroo,” was 100-years old.
