The Lifetime network is doing another bio pic on another late singer. This time on singer/Actress Aaliyah. Disney Star and former Dancing With The Star Contestant Zendaya Coleman will be playing Aaliyah. Coleman rose to stardom on the Disney series Shake It Up. She is not only beautiful, but she is a very talented singer and dancer. This is the first time a movie has been made about the late singer, but her family isn't happy. Aaliyah died in 2001 at the age of 22. Her short life had its share of controversy, including a marriage to Singer/Songwriter R Kelly when she was just 15-years old. Will the movie address the marriage to Kelly? Aaliyah's parents, who have never publicly spoken on the marriage, are trying to stop the movie from getting made. They don't want to relive the scandal.

In more Lifetime news, Actress/Model Ya Ya DeCosta will be playing Whitney Houston in the biopic about the late singer’s life. Angela Bassett, Houston’s Waiting To Exhale co-star, is directing the movie which will focus on the years Whitney was with then husband Bobby Brown. No word on who will play Bobby Brown. The TV movie is set to debut next year. DeCosta is a former runner up from the reality series America’s Next Top Model, and she played the militant girlfriend in the Lee Daniels’ blockbuster The Butler.

Bobbi Kristina and Bobby Brown reunited for Father’s Day. The late Whitney Houston's ex-husband and their daughter seemed to be mending fences. The two hadn't been together for years and had quite a few issues between them. Among them, Bobby had objected to Bobbi Kris' marriage to playbrother/Manager Nick Gordon, and there was the big blow up with Bobby and his former in-laws at Whitney's funeral. Well, Bobbi Kris decided to load pictures of her daddy-daughter day on Twitter. The two looked like they had a great Father's Day together.

Get ready for a reunion of the 80’s hit TV sitcom A Different World. Oprah has most of the original cast for a future episode of Where Are They Now on OWN. A Different World Producer/Director Debbie Allen was instrumental in helping Winfrey with the reunion. That's because Allen is trying to bring the show back to TV. Allen says while she has the support of the show's original Creator and Co-Owner, Bill Cosby, she's still trying to get a network on board. The ground-breaking sitcom about life at a (fictional) historically black college was a spinoff of The Cosby Show, and was a top-five ratings hit for the majority of its run on NBC from 1987-1992.

Can you see Former President Clinton on Scandal?!!! When asked, Scandal Creator Shonda Rhimes says she would love to have the former commander-in-chief on the hit show, but that he's the only political cameo she'd ever allow. How ironic since the former president was involved in his own sex scandal while he was in office. In Scandal, the show's lead character, “Olivia Pope,” is having an affair with the president. Although Scandal reps say the show is not based on the Clinton presidency, don’t bet on the former commander-in-chief appearing on the show.

Broadway's musical After Midnight is closing at the end of the month. Even though the musical got seven Tony Award nominations, the show never made money. The investors were tired of pouring money into the production. The show debuted on Broadway at the beginning of the year and featured Fantasia, K.D. Lang, Toni Braxton, Babyface and Vanessa Williams, just to name a few. After Midnight will end with Patti LaBelle. If it had survived on Broadway, it would have featured Gladys Knight and Natalie Cole, who were both slated to follow LaBelle.

Singer Keyshia Cole is tired of her money-hungry family. Cole's career is struggling, and she wants to get back on track. She has seen her marriage to Daniel “Boobie” Gibson collapse, and now her family is attempting a new reality show called Family Therapy. Cole wants no part of this reality show, and she says she is tired of being used by her family.

Congrats to Singer Eve. She is now a married lady. The actress/rapper married the founder of Gumball 3000 Maximillion Cooper, who is worth a reported $500 million.

Funeral services will be private for the legendary Actress Ruby Dee, but a public memorial is being planned. The award-winning actress passed away last week. Dee's acting career stretched 7 decades. She's best known for her work on stage with her late husband Writer/Director/Actor Ossie Davis. Davis died in 2005 after being married to Dee for almost 57 years. Both performers enjoyed a renaissance beginning 25 years ago when they both began working on a series of film projects with, among others, Writer/Director Spike Lee beginning with Do The Right Thing. For Dee, it culminated in her Oscar nominated performance opposite Denzel Washington in American Gangster. Dee was also an author, journalist and civil rights activist. Ruby Dee was 91-years old.

We remember Tony Gwynn, Sr. The baseball Hall Of Famer died after battling mouth cancer for years. Gwynn claimed it came from smokeless tobacco. In his 20-year career with the San Diego Padres, he posted over 3,100 hits and was a 15-time All-Star. His son Tony Gwynn, Jr. is an outfielder for the Phillies. Tony Gwynn, Sr. was 54-years old.

We also remember Casey Kasem. The legendary DJ/voiceover artist/actor passed away from complications of Lewy body disease, a form of dementia. Kasem was best remembered for hosting TV's Shindig dance show in the 60's, The American Top 10 and 40 Countdown shows on radio and TV and as the voice of “Shaggy” in the Scooby Doo cartoon shows for more than 25 years. Recently, his wife, Actress Jean Kasem, had a court fight with her adult step-children over Casey's care, and the court eventually sided with the children. Casey Kasem was 82.

Halle Berry has to pay up to her ex. A judge has ordered Berry to pay her babydaddy, Model Gabriel Aubry,  $16,000 a month in child support. That's right nearly $200,000 a year for their 6-year old daughter Nahla. Berry also has to cover Aubry's $300,000 attorneys' fees and pay him  $115,000 in retroactive support. Berry is now married to Actor Oliver Martinez and they have a son Maceo. Last Thanksgiving, Martinez and Aubry got into a fight that sent Aubry to the hospital. In better news for the Oscar winner, her new TV drama comes out in July. Berry will star in Extant, a sci-fi series produced by Steven Spielberg. Extant premieres July 9th on CBS.

First Daughter Malia Obama recently got her first job as a production assistant on the set of the CBS drama. On the TV series Extant, Halle Berry plays an astronaut who becomes pregnant by aliens.

Former Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. may be getting out soon. The ex-congressman received a 30-month sentence for misuse of campaign funds. His good behavior and compliance with his in-jail treatment may lead Jackson to be released early and serve out the remainder of his sentence in a halfway house. Jackson's wife Sandi received 12 months for signing a false joint tax return. She’s slated to begin her sentence after Jesse, Jr. is released. The judge staggered their sentences so one parent is always with their children. The Jacksons have two children ages 9 and 13.

Actor Taye Diggs has returned to TV in the TNT drama Murder In The First.  Nicole Ari Parker also stars. The show airs Monday nights at 10pm on TNT, and just premiered to strong ratings. Diggs also is opening up about his split from Broadway Actress Idina Menzel. He mentioned how fans lost it when they heard the acting supercouple were headed for divorce after ten years together. Diggs says he and Menzel were always seen as a couple who defied the odds. They met while they were both in the Broadway hit Rent, and they always seemed to stayahead of all the drama that people usually bring interracial couples.
