Are you a budding or experienced children's book author/illustrator? The Global Philadelphia Association is looking for proposals for creation of a coloring book with a story line that will help children become familiar with the historical and cultural heritage of Philadelphia. There are plans to distribute the finished product in connection with “Welcome America Celebrates 25 Years”, a major series of public activities and events being promoted by Welcome America, Inc. that will be taking place in and around the City of Philadelphia from June 27 through July 4, 2017. The winner of the selected proposal will be also be compensated a negotiated rate of $7500 to $12,500.
Requirements for the coloring book are:
(1) that it be themed around Philadelphia’s cultural heritage, broadly construed, with a focus less on the founders and the buildings associated with the Declaration of Independence and the U. S. Constitution than on the Philadelphia figures of different backgrounds and other major achievements, events, or phenomena that have taken place over the life of the city, from its founding to the present day;
(2) that it have an appealing story line; and
(3) that it be suitable for and entertaining to schoolchildren in the age group from 5 to 11.
