Mariah Tells All; Tiger Tells All; NBC Denies All

Is a member of the ground breaking hip hop group Public Enemy a brand new daddy? That’s what a woman who use to work for Flava Flav claims. This woman says the 60-year old rapper and reality star is the father of her child. This would be Flav’s eighth if it’s true. Flav has responded and he denies it. There’s a DNA test coming as the woman is seeking full child support in the paternity suit she filed. Hmmmmmmmm!

Mariah Carey is coming out with a tell all! Carey has enjoyed success almost like no other performer. She has a record 18 number one hits and has sold over 200 million albums worldwide. The singer/songwriter/actress has a reported net worth of $300 million plus. But, let’s talk about this tell all. Will she talk about the marriages? Did Carey’s first husband, powerful Record Executive Tommy Mottola, keep her chained up in the house like a prisoner? He was much older than Mariah. What about the second marriage to the younger Nick Cannon? They had two children together. What about that reported mental breakdown she had that people claim happened live on MTV. Is she feuding with Jennifer Lopez by constantly claiming in public she doesn’t know her? What about the romances: Derek Jeter, Eminem, a Boyz II Men member? How did she go from wearing Cinderella dresses to her going to hip hop and almost being naked even though she can really sing? The untitled autobiography is due out in 2020.

Speaking of tell alls, Tiger Woods has one slated to be published as well called Back. Is that title from his constant struggles with back pain? Or, from being a onetime disgraced adulterer back to Presidential Freedom Medal honoree and winning the Master’s again this year? Woods broke racial barriers in golf and all of sports like never before. Although he stood on the shoulders of Black Golfers Charlie Sifford, Lee Elder and Jim Thorpe, Woods blazed a new trail when he won the Masters in 1997. Woods became a media darling and his charitable works made him a super role model. Then came the women. They popped up everywhere in the media and claimed affairs with Woods. Though all claimed the affairs were consensual, the ensuing scandal ruined Woods’ image for a time. It was topped off when his now ex-wife reportedly chased Woods from their house with a golf club and he crashed his car into a tree trying to get away from her. No charges were ever filed and the two divorced. Woods eventually got passed that and another minor scandal where he was charged for driving under the influence due to a medication mix up. Now, Woods wants to tell all from his point of view. How about that Cablinasian declaration on Oprah? Then there are his famous friendships with Presidents Obama and Trump Michael Jordan, Stevie Wonder, Sting and Prince. Will Tiger tell the truth and the whole truth? At press time no release date has been announced for Back.

Did NBC give payments to Sidejawns? First Journalist and former NBC News/MSNBC host Ronan Farrow went after his old workplace with his new book Catch And Kill. Among the revelations, Farrow got Matt Lauer accuserBrooke Nevils on the record claiming Lauer raped her in their first encounter, which Lauer denies. Now Farrow’s book claims not only did NBC News know about Lauer before they fired him in 2017 for inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace, but NBC paid settlements with non-disclosure agreements before that. It appears Lauer had a combination of complainants and sidechicks. You get a settlement, you get a settlement and you get a settlement. NBC denies this. The drama goes on and on.

Cuba Gooding, Jr.: the other shoe has dropped and now at press time, the accusers stand at 14. He is now charged with sexual misconduct involving two women. Prosecutors in New York want to use the other accusers to show a pattern of behavior even though there won’t be charges…a’la Bill Cosby/prior bad act witnesses. Gooding’s lawyers are fighting back. They’re claiming the first accuser he’s charged with had 4 different DNA’s on her dress and that the second accuser was even less credible. Has this ruined Gooding’s career? Can the Oscar winner be exonerated?

Lizzo stands accused of stealing music. The 31-year singer/songwriter/rapper hit number one this year with the platinum selling single Truth Hurts. But with her success, there are accusers laying claim to the song. One songwriter, who claims to have written a song called Healthy with Lizzo, says the lyrics in Truth Hurts are his. Then there’s a songwriter from Britain claiming Truth Hurts lyrics. This could be complicating for Lizzo as this song shows no signs of slowing down. I can see a Grammy and multiple nominations for this song. Will these accusations derail the song or cost Lizzo some cash?

Speaking of music disputes, Pharrell Williams is on the cover of G.Q. magazine. He talks about how the biggest hit he’s associated with is embarrassing. He’s referring to Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines. Williams was co-writer, producer and performed with Thicke on the song. Williams talked about how the lyrics are damaging to women, and that’s what’s embarrassing. What he didn’t seem embarrassed about was paying Marvin Gaye’s family $5 million. Gaye’s family took Williams and Thicke to court stating the song sampled Gaye’s 1977 Motown hit Got To Give It Up and Gaye’s family won.
